The film which has been residing rent-free in my head since I watched it is THE SADIST (1963), in which 3 school teachers (2guys, 1 woman) are waylaid on their way to a baseball game by a psycho killer & his gf. Even with its Deus Ex Machina style ending its a raw & tense thriller.
