Carol Baltosiewich, who ministered to people with HIV and AIDS, died earlier this year. Michael O'Loughlin remembers her in this appreciation.

Carol's nephew emailed to let me know of her passing and to share with me that a copy of Hidden Mercy had been included in a memorial at her funeral Mass. He thanked for helping him and the rest of his family come to know his aunt better. 4/5

I was heartened to hear how meaningful she had found the whole experience of sharing her story with a wider audience and I was so happy to be able to tell her in person how much her work meant to an entirely new generation of LGBT Catholics. 3/5

When Hidden Mercy was published, I was fortunate to embark on a book tour that took me to three dozen cities. During one of those talks, I made time to visit Carol and thank her for all her help with the project. 2/5
