Hazarding a guess: after a pretty short period the studio gets less of a cut of theatrical releases so they have less of an incentive to keep it there. The streaming side wants it as content so they're pushing to bring it online.

Interesting. The augmented reality version of the Matrix at Cosm felt much more engaged with and respectful of the film than this. Cosm used the additional elements really thoughtfully where it sounds like this did... Not.
