for the millionth time, they way that DOPS handles the leafs would be fine, if they applied the same standard to the rest of the league. They are too lenient on everyone else, not necessarily too harsh on toronto.

this is on purpose. they don’t want it to be cheaper than what a daily commuter would use, because they would lose needed revenue. the number of power-riders taking over 40 trips per month is small.

it’s simple - the TTC is underfunded. They rely heavily on fare revenue to sustain operations. Unlike car infrastructure, they don’t get sufficient subsidies to keep up operations. It’s like if every road and highway required tolls.

I think a lot of the anger is because they couldn’t sign Ohtani or Soto. In both cases, the reason was lack of interest from the player, which is not the fault of team management. I do think that Atkins is not good at speaking publicly, they should get Shapiro to do more of that.
