Visited Muckle Moss in Northumberland yesterday with Natural England colleagues. Great restoration work has restored hydrology, rewetted the bog, reinvigorated the plant community and restarted growth. Note the disappearing fence line as the peat builds up.

Coldest week of the winter last week. New heat pump working well, keeping us warm. Better and cheaper to run than our old gas boiler as well as low emissions.

Can’t resist a quick proud father moment as I reflect back on #BES2024 - great to have Matthew there! No expectations what my children will do for a career but it was fun!

Great to listen to Leo Mercer talking about net zero and rewilding at #BES2042 - some key evidence gaps need to be resolved to make the most of the opportunities. Glad our carbon storage and sequestration by habitat report could provide useful context.

First sighting of bluebells coming into flower. It’s early because of a warm winter and early spring.
