😆 I totally respect that. Groups in Mind is still one of my favorites, but the density of information line by line reads almost like scripture (except it’s actually saying profound things!).

Yes, something along that line of reasoning. I feel like there is a more eloquent treatment of the idea in another paper(s), but I would have to go back and look.

I haven’t read the book in full yet, but having read the articles it’s based on, I think Pinker would agree that the fully recursive knowledge state is not necessary, thanks to shared (representational) processes that facilitate mental coordination across agents.

“People who have difficulty identifying and expressing emotions are more likely to endorse causing harm if it benefits the greater good.” I would reverse this causal logic and propose additional mechanisms. Essentially, those observed features are symptoms(rather than causes)of a functional system.
