I think the biggest problem with the New York Times is the lack of specificity in their headlines. The article makes clear that Trump was spouting all kinds of debunked nonsense. Seems like a big deal that the president would do that? Would you even know it happened from just the headline?

Not the main point, I know, but this inconsistency speaks to why “what about the fighting Irish” was always a dumb response to getting rid of native mascots/team names
