I’d imagine that LA being that much more hated by Republicans than SF and Chicago is a reflection of the admin’s attack on the city. LA would probably be similar otherwise.

It reminds me a bit of some 1970s/1980s duplex and townhouse developments nearby, though less auto-centric.

Ezra is also interested in reducing barriers to government initiatives at the hands of private interests. He talks about building state design and implementation capacity for infrastructure. This was abandoned in the 80s in favor of consultant bloat and the privatization of the state.

From what I’ve seen, it looks like blended CAHSR-Caltrain service with the current (very limited) plans to quad track more sections would require some odd timetable contortions, with Caltrain departures bunched up in the hour, leaving a long time gap in service.

The most recent CAHSR business plan includes trains with different stopping patterns. On this diagram, I’m more concerned by the fact that nearly all mainline rail in the Bay Area is constrained to the Peninsula corridor. Without large infrastructure investments, it’d be very unreliable.

Yeah, from the looks of the graph, Dems seemed to be more partisan on economic sentiment in the 2000s than now.
