Best villains we've had since K. Rool and best Kongs we've had since the DK64 crew. I liked the arcs Grumpy and especially Poppy had and I genuinely wouldn't have minded if Void Kong was the main villain the whole way through (but obviously I prefer what we got), he was really entertaining.

Would something like Killer Instinct 2013 count? While yes, it released in 2013, it got supported up to 2017 and got that 10th anniversary update.

But overall, I am very satisfied. It definitely has its warts but the moment-to-moment gameplay and challenge are some of the best I've experienced all year. It's just so fucking great to have this series back, the Year of the Ninja has been a success in my eyes. 4/4
