(Re)watched KISS ME DEADLY (1955), following a review on the brilliant @tippingmyfedora.bsky.social podcast. This is a good one, violent, grim, and filled with unlikeable people (the ‘hero’ is loathsome), building to a climax so unexpected and altogether out there that it never leaves you.

Watched NOSFERATU (2024) - gorgeous looking and so atmospheric, gives it a sublime dark fairy tale vibe, however for me a bit overlong and Orlok is present too often - and too vocal - to stay scary. Depp is utterly amazing, physically elastic plus those eyes, and Hoult's callow Hutter works well.

(Re)watched THE DESCENT (2005) - glorious, icky horror classic that I still check up on, every now and then. Worth remembering that as fun as the monster mania is, the film’s first half - that steady delve, deeper and deeper into the mountain, walls closing in, etc - is by far the superior. Love it.

(Re)watched ELIZABETH (1998) - despite the endless historical inaccuracies, this is a fine depiction of the young Liz’s reign, enemies (religious, political, imagined) on all sides, potentially the greatest of them all being Fiennes’s dashing yet fickle nobleman. Good fun, with added Cantona.
