Especially since easy mode has a long and storied heritage, even in hardcore gaming. We old-timers grew up in the days of cheat codes, passwords, and Game Genies.

But is there any other gameplay mechanic that regularly inspires the level of unalloyed hatred that turn-based combat seems to attract? Is it really that deeply objectionable?

I'd love to be pleasantly surprised but I'm not holding my breath for full remasters of 2 and 3.

As others have noted, I suspect this won't be the case.
The big question for me is whether or not these will ultimately be compatible with 8BitDo GCN adapters. As someone that never got a hold of a Wavebird, I'd love to have a proper first-party wireless controller to use with my actual Gamecube.
