Thanks for pointing that out! Yes, lots of reviewers have been saying Roottrees scratches that narrative deduction game itch.

Oh, yeah. That's a good one!

I've heard the term "deduction" games, although that could be confused with "social deduction" games like Werewolf or Mafia. 🤔

There's a comprehensive, context-aware hint system built into the game. It has different levels of assistance, so if you're stuck, it guides you through the section gently at first, then gets more detailed each time you click.

That way you still get that sense of accomplishment, with some backup! 😎

It's also currently 10 percent off, so merely $17.99 USD during the first week. Now that's a deal! 😎

Well observed, but that's just P1's living-room UI. Other than that and some cutscenes, most of the gameplay takes place in '90s-era cyberspace. 😎💻🔍

Yes, all illustrations in this release were done from scratch! Most of it is by @henningludvigsen.bsky.social, a very talented board-game artist based in Norway: bsky.app/profile/henn...
I got to work on the remake for The Rootrees Are Dead for the majority of last year, creating all the character illustrations and a few other elements.

It was tons of work and lots of fun!

The game releases in a week, so please wishlist it on steam! :-D

Seven days into 2025 and I've already played what I suspect will be one of my favorite games of the year: The Roottrees Are Dead, a narrative logic deduction game (à la Obra Dinn) that has you searching for clues to unravel the dramatic story of a rich family store.steampowered.com/app/2754380/...
