AI Futures: Four Predictions for 2027 — Mike Betts
Two and a half years ago, no-one was talking about synthetic users, AI-generated UGC or AI agents. What will we be discussing in 2027, that is not even on the horizon today? This question struck me ...

Considering Trump’s current stance on Ukraine and Greenland, it’s not totally inconceivable that the EU may soon need to view US as a hostile power. Could US troops even be uninvited from EU territory?

🚀 AI agents will be huge—but first, they’ll be a mess. Before they take over, we’ll need AI just to manage them. Here’s why: www.mikecbetts.com/genaithought...
AI Agents will be massive. But first, they’ll be a mess. — Mike Betts
Right now, AI agents are like an early-stage gold rush. Everyone knows there’s something huge here, but no one’s quite sure how to extract the real value. Make no mistake – agents will take off. And ...

I don’t know how to add up the hours I’ve spent on Gen AI in the last 2 years, working with various tools and LLMs, watching capabilities improve, learning how to leverage it and when to apply it.

I do know that if I was going to hire someone, I wouldn’t hire anyone that was missing those skills.

It’s so sad that one of the first things we do with genAI - potentially the most powerful technology ever invented - is create a bunch of AI sales tools that are filling our inboxes with unwanted spam!

I’ve seen a lot of posts saying AI-generated UGC is going to be huge.

But isn’t this missing the point of UGC in the first place?

UGC became successful not just because it’s cheaper than brand content - but because it’s more authentic.

So what’s the value of synthetic authenticity?

The 'gatekeeping' of AI knowledge by using unnecessarily complex jargon needs to stop. Here's how we can demystify it.

Why are we ‘gatekeeping’ generative AI? — Mike Betts
The truth is that generative AI should be ‘for everyone’ - especially since one of the biggest shifts is the way it allows you to interact fully in natural language - no coding skills required. But w...

Tested Gemini 'Advanced 1.5 Pro with Deep Research' 🧪

Pros:
• Tackles complex queries impressively
• Searches 100+ sites rapidly
• Shares research plan for feedback

Cons:
• Multiple rounds needed
• Occasional irrelevant searches 🤷‍♂️

Powerful, if quirky, research partner.

Tried Gemini? Thoughts? 🤔

December '24 was a crazy month for genAI, so the news about Deep Seek (Chinese LLM trained for just $5.5m) might have got lost. I just conducted an experiment, in the context of sales outreach, to test it out: www.mikecbetts.com/genaithought...
How good is Deep Seek? — Mike Betts
Deep Seek, the new Chinese LLM, is impressive. But don't jump ship from your preferred AI tools and models just yet - here's why. Yes, Deep Seek is impressive, especially considering it cost far less...

Klarna CEO is getting flak for saying that they will reduce headcount via genAI - but then still hiring people. Some roles are for ML engineers, others are for roles that genAI can't fulfil yet. Klarna has said it will have less but better paid people in future - it is not contradictory to hire.

US company wants to buy “US portion” of TikTok. Which means the user base and their data basically. If the algo isn’t good people will just leave. Waste of money.

Story of the week, possibly of the year. And of course no surprise that the FT has disabled comments on this article.
The outpouring of support for the shooter on TikTok is like nothing I’ve ever seen. Mainstream media don’t want to open a platform for that level of anti-orthodox debate.

This isn’t news though. ChatGPT has been misquoting sources for many months. Often the sources are legitimate, and the article/report title sounds credible - but it’s entirely fabricated.
Typically it will acknowledge it’s made them up when challenged. So always ask.
