Philadelphia, PA - Bringing better passenger rail to the U.S.

Founder & CEO @ Lunatrain (ridelunatrain.com)
Other operators are going to have to pick up the slack if we want to see novel and expanded train services in the U.S. And that's exactly what Lunatrain aims to do.

🧳 They’re more convenient. Millennials and Gen Z tend live in cities, where trains depart and arrive in city centers.

🍃 Climate impact is still a top concern for some travelers. Trains output significantly less CO2 than planes.

✨ Millennials and Gen Z are looking for unique experiences when they travel. Taking the train is a social experience and the journey is part of the appeal.

💻 Remote work is on the rise. Remote and hybrid workers take their work with them while they travel to extend their vacations. These “laptop luggers” are not served well by airlines or driving.

I can’t see how the ad-supported model will be viable for much longer. At some point there’s going to be such a saturation of advertisements that people just stop paying attention to them (if that hasn’t happened already)

I’ve passed through it so many times but I don’t think I’ve ever seen the outside. Very nice looking station

How’s the headroom on these? I’ve always found LIRR to feel tight inside, but I know we’re height restricted here on the east coast

I would appreciate being added if you’re still maintaining the list! Lunatrain is looking to solve for the lack of long-distance trains that work for people living in big cities

Night trains have seen a pretty strong resurgence across Europe with people who want a more comfortable alternative to flying (and are looking to be more climate-friendly). We need better night trains here in the U.S.

I don’t see a path forward for ultra-low-cost carriers like Spirit in the US. Customers hate it, and legacy airlines have figured out how to pick up cost-conscious travelers. Budget airlines don’t have the advantages they had a decade ago

Spirit might be the first one to crash, but travelers are fed up with the entire airline industry. We need alternatives that actually care about customer experience
