My other point is some stuff needs to be put out there to enter the consciousness. Inflation was very bad for biden, and I would guess like 80% people being annoyed about prices, which no one had to point out. Also, I agree bad to say anything about immigration in Oct/Nov of election years.

Do you think this El Salvador stuff is good for Trump? Or even if not talking about it is good for him because people generally dislike immigration? I think its bad for him and will marginally change views on immigration short term.

Don't disagree w first part, but 1) more than one thing can be "focused on" (again, there is no election happening); 2) tariff stuff does it's own damage w/o messaging; 3) reducing R advantage on strong issue for them seems valuable; 4) deporting random people to foreign prisons is not popular!

The theory of impact I have in mind is taking the opportunity to shift opinion on this issue to some extent, allowing better future policy in any environment.

1) We (you) don't know how this is going to play based on general immigration polling; 2) It is worth trying to make this very unpopular as well as very importantto fight against it; 3) people will still notice if there is a recession; 4) there is not an election happening.

4) Putin calls and says he needs crude prices back up.
