Don’t ever fall in love with a closer. They’re 100% fungible assets and if you’re close to the playoffs, you can always find one. (Also, about 75% of their performance is context-dependent and not skill-dependent. Except Rivera.)

Having spent the last 10 weeks in Europe, I have a pretty good sense. If the logistics were just a bit simpler, I’d be coming back here after the holidays on a one-way ticket. I’m blessed to not have to rely on my US Passport as that would mark me as a buffoon.

To me, it’s one thing to note and even comment on one’s choice of dress for Disney World, as in,”do you honestly think that’s a good choice?” But jumping directly from that to one’s perceived sexual proclivities says more about the observer that the observed.

With you - never really considered the issue (but have very few friends/fam w diet specifics) - but your comment on “welcoming others” rings so true. My dad always was dragging home foreign grad students for the day and making sure we honored everyone’s food traditions.

Meanwhile in Europe, the standard is a barcode reader that opens a gate after the registers. They’re not checking for unpaid items, I guess, but that you paid for something.
