Haven't read those. Love the William books though. I did recently read a collection of E. Nesbitt's ghost stories. Bit of a mixed bag, but some good 'uns in there.

Love Donald Barthelme's short stories - I have Forty Stories and Sixty Stories, which contain some real gems. He's the master miniaturist of the genre.

Great episode! And great choice of name for the city, of course!

Fabulous! Thanks Greg.

You can't just leave us on tenterhooks - we need to know which king was squashed by an elephant after prodding it with a spear! (Or were you thinking of Aurangzeb? It seems he survived, but his horse got squished.)

If nothing else, this makes me want to read The Alexandria Quartet again...

Bloody Danes, coming over here, painting our mini-roundabouts!

I'm old enough to remember when it used to be a reception problem on your analogue TV set!

This was a fab episode. Reassuring to know I'm not the only one who's been mixing up my Matildas all this time!

The elephant in the room is social care funding. My Mum's nursing fees have already gone up 10% this year due to the NI rise and increasing operating costs; now the govt wants higher-paid British care workers. Where's the money coming from?

Pics or it didn't happen! 🤣

On a similar note, if you have no choc sauce available, I recommend breaking up a few plain chocolate digestives into small pieces and adding them to vanilla ice cream. Yum!

Enjoying this hugely (currently just past half-way through). 🙂

I seem to have accidentally discovered a nautical superstition...

I once foolishly jumped in to explain to a confused Italian that the tourists were asking where the nearest shoe shop was. Mid-sentence, I had a complete mental block on the Italian for "shoe". But I was already committed. "Clothes for the feet" it was, then. I bet they ended up in a sock shop!

Then there's "cosy catastrophe" which has been used of the likes of John Wyndham and John Christopher. I think it's a misnomer. There's nothing cosy about The Day of the Triffids or The Death of Grass.

The "Top Secret" magnifying glass gag (with Peter Cushing) is surely one of the best visual gags in movie history!

So you'll be in an Abelian group? Commuting should be fine then. 😉

Fab! Will you get time for the Viking ship museum, or to see some Munch paintings?

I was thinking "they've done this one before" - then realised I was thinking of "In Our Time" (Dec 2019). In the IOT programme, if memory serves, they made a case for coffee as the fuel of the Industrial Revolution - the acceptable drug of the Protestant Work Ethic!
