Awesome fieldwork in the UK Lake District seeing welded ignimbrites, subaqueous volcaniclastic density current deposits, autobreccias & lots of soft sediment deformation in and around ancient caldera fill sequences. Scoping future ideas with @isobelyeo.bsky.social @noc.ac.uk @vmsg.bsky.social

Amazing talk by @isobelyeo.bsky.social bringing together loads of collaborative research on volcanic hazards from the 2022 Hunga eruption and what we can tell from the deposits left behind at @iavcei.bsky.social @ukri.org

Excellent talk by @isobelyeo.bsky.social at SubOptic25 in Lisbon talking about how to enhance the resilience of small islands telecoms infrastructure to natural hazards, after she convened an interesting session on Marine Operations @noc.ac.uk

Great to see this research covered by the BBC - looking forward to seeing what we discover from all the data that were collected last month! Nice work by @isobelyeo.bsky.social on radio and TV interviews!

Sampling hydrothermal mounds on the seafloor of the Santorini caldera as part of the @ukri.org HYDROMOX project to understand the fluid flow that feeds them @isobelyeo.bsky.social @sofiadellasala.bsky.social @gemmaportlock.bsky.social @noc.ac.uk

ROV dives, gravity coring, geophysical surveys and getting ready for fluid sampling on board the RRS Discovery - it’s been busy inside the Santorini caldera on the @ukri.org HYDROMOX project today! @noc.ac.uk @isobelyeo.bsky.social @gemmaportlock.bsky.social @sofiadellasala.bsky.social

Excited to be offshore to see the first seafloor instruments being deployed as part of the @ukrio.bsky.social expedition offshore Santorini as part of the HYDROMOX project led by @isobelyeo.bsky.social @noc.ac.uk

Excellent presentation at Submarine Networks conference by @isobelyeo.bsky.social of @noc.ac.uk on hazards for subsea cables affecting small islands worldwide - it’s complicated!

Seabed seismometers passively detect powerful turbidity currents - we show that fast moving flows can be detected without needing instruments in their path!

New free teaching resource led by Mia Hughes, Ian Kane (& me in a very very small way), available online to model controls on microplastics transport in the ocean. Preprint here: eartharxiv.org/repository/v... & 1D model www.geogebra.org/m/refpu3kc & 2D model www.geogebra.org/m/xgkuaugk Have fun!
