iMessage “fails open” (falls back to insecure SMS/MMS if it has an issue reaching Apple’s server) unless you turn that off as the sender. At mercy of your contacts to do it too for their msgs. Easier to just use Signal rather than worry if my contacts do that.

But I’d never heard of Aloha or Onion Browser — and Onion Browser in particular stands out for coming from an individual developer, Mike Tigas. (Onion Browser also stands out for being open source.) Both Aloha and Onion are advertised as “privacy focused”, which seems particularly true for Onion Browser, which is connected to Tor. Aloha includes built-in ad-blocking and a geo-fence skipping VPN.

Wow! Onion Browser is one of the choices in the new "choose your default browser" screen that will be shown to iOS users in the EU: www.macrumors.com/2024/01/26/a... It's WILD that a browser with Tor built-in will be presented as a setup option on a major OS.
