while fics are just the written form of playing with your dolls. nobody cares if you do it right, if it’s entertaining, or if anyone else likes it. as long as the author had fun it has already served its purpose.

i hate the fic vs. books comparison because in only one of those the author is being paid in order to just sit down and write. fics are written for self indulgent reasons, at no cost. no author owes you their fics being “good” or to your taste.
