The Expanse definitely doesn’t fall under the category of personal art and even if it did, once you yeet something into the gaping maw of internet, it’s no longer yours and whatever your intentions were for it don’t count. In that way any art that’s viewed is no longer personal.

IMO feeling and analysing should be one and the same. When you learn to see, they become one synchronous action because your seeing becomes informed by your knowing. The more you know, the more you see, the more you feel. That's not to say 'media analysis' is a requirement - but it does help.

The expanse is about as openly socialist as it can be without literally calling itself "That socialist show". I don't know how anyone can watch a whole planet of working class proletariat angry at the bourgeoisie and be like "Nothing political here" tbqh.

I don't think there's anything manipulative about stating facts. Art does not exist in a vacuum, therefore it is by its very nature, political. The artist's intention is irrelevant, Death of The Author and all that.

I recently read this: screencraft.org/blog/hayao-m... and it was so eye-opening for me because I never had a word for this. Becoming aware of emptiness and treating it like its own entity has done wonders for my storytelling (and my life).

"Show, don't tell" has been so abused. No one - and I mean NO ONE wants a ton of pointless exposition when a simple "tell" will do. It's genuinely one of the most misused concepts and it drives me nuts when people treat it like dogma.
