It's no problem. Honestly it's a shame how conditioned we are to fight each other at every instance of disagreement or correction, nobody wins in that scenario besides those who oppress us.

I just want to say, I appreciate you taking the time to elaborate - obviously you have no obligation to do so.
This gives me more to think on, which is valuable. As I said, I do genuinely like to hear other peoples take on it. Its good for everyone to discuss.

Convey my overall feelings about it as clearly as I could have.

When really, we both face problems and transphobia but in different ways, and can often be blind to each others experiences at times. This goes for pretty much any division in the community, like trans men being transmisogynistic for ex. In my refocusing to try and highlight that, I didn't>

When you put it this way it makes a lot more sense to me.
I think I overshoot because so often I would hear this rhetoric essentially trying to say non med transitioners face no issues at all, or should be annexed from transness entirely for being "too weird", more or less.

How do we make these distinctions without leaving someone behind? Without hurting them? And then, by extension, hurting ourselves in the process?
November 21, 2024 at 9:33 AM
By that I mean separating terms. Some conversations tend to just ring all the same alarm bells from what I remember growing up, watching real people in front of me suffering cause of how intense the harassment was because of those kinds of videos & deliberate separations. Ig I find myself wondering>

That makes sense to me, yeah. Its difficult, I think, because the community feels like we're splitting under the pressure so often since the pandemic. I'm so used to any division between these groups leading to alot of avoidable pain, so I think that it puts me on edge, if I'm being honest.

Probably. I remember it as being a big enough deal that I haven't met a transmasc under 24 in NA who didn't have a personal experience directly bc of him- usually overtly negative, for themselves & everyone else, too. Thats true both irl & online, for years now.

Because at the end of the day I have my own thoughts and specific experiences around it that impacted my life & local community, & others are the same. As a person who tries to generally focus on solidarity above proving myself right I welcome any trans ppl to say their piece as well, not just me.

Yeah, I agree. Ultimately I made the thread on a whim and didn't really anticipate much traction. So theres tons of things that I don't know & thus didn't mention, or things that I won't agree w/forever. & Honestly I would love to hear your own expanded thoughts on the subject. >

Also I specified cis trans/trans cis because I've seen it be used by some folk who regularly harass other trans people to paint themselves as "one of the good transes" as opposed to people with less binary presentations.
I do believe you can change sex- I did it myself.

I was moreso discussing those two to bring clarity to intracommunal fighting I've been seeing that I know for a fact was popularized by them specifically. As in, alot of the discoursers were recycling things that were said by them but no one was acknowledging this was not a new argument.

Ig embeds don't show up well but this was a recorded live stream from the NDN collective discussing their paper "The Right to Return is LandBack" with one of the authors, Nadya Tannous who is a Palestinian woman + activist. Can't encourage ppl enough to go listen to what she had to say here

**those who challenge adherence are not truly trans or are not the same as me

We need to abandon this framework if we're ever going to create a truly unified community with the ability to enforce trans rights as a whole. We just do. Cis people will never be our saviours.

So no, transmedicalism is not the trans communities invention nor is it our fault that it exists.

No, transmedicalism is not equivalent to the notion that access to HRT/surgery is good & should be more accessible.

& No, other trans folk- transmedicalism will not save you, or us. >
