There should be a counter for the times Catelyn is right. For not even halfway through the book, it's already really high

Character moments like these, in Catelyn IV. Cat paying the easy price of her hand for her son. CAT THEY WILL NEVER MAKE ME HATE YOU

Welcome to the family

I love how this whole chapter is a dream, but it's still pretty damn compelling. Just for the mental images alone, but it's character moments like these that make the book and set it apart from the show that will not be named. Martin characterized a freaking crow!!!!

Martin loves to use imagery for foreshadowing and symbolism. It's one of my favorite things about his works. But what could the giant bit mean?

Damn, he's got you there, I guess

I always point to Bran III to remind folks that this series is a FANTASY. Wow, shocker, I know. But after the show that will not be named butchered the fantasy aspect of the series, it bears reminding

At the end of this chapter, a man killed an innocent wolf. Then, a dog killed an innocent boy. These are the type of people you're dealing with, Ned...

It's a small comfort to know Lady is resting back home. And Ned will always be my hero for denying Cersei that pelt. Consequences be damned
February 22, 2025 at 7:47 PM
Honestly, this moment always gets a tear out of me. Not only for Lady's unjust conviction (I'm a dog person) and Sansa's realization, but for Arya's words as well. She's rightfully enraged, but never enough to condemn the direwolf. In this moment, Arya's moral compass is clear and unclouded

The structure shines through again here. We know what happened, but seeing this through Ned's perspective highlights the trust he has in his daughter. Not to mention how spiteful Cersei is and how much a LITTLE SHIT JOFFREY IS BEING
February 22, 2025 at 7:34 PM
GET HIM, NYMERIA!! GET HIM! HERE TAKE THIS 🪑
I mean... Ah, no. The prince. Someone, stop this. Ah 🙄
February 22, 2025 at 3:24 PM
Sansa, I love you, but...
February 22, 2025 at 3:20 PM
I always forget so many of this chapter's details. The fact that Renly and Barristan are introduced on the way to King's Landing. And the way Sansa names them. It all feels so...medieval and trope-ish (not in a bad way). I blame my forgetfulness on the show that will not be named
February 22, 2025 at 3:17 PM
Hating Joffrey is my favorite hobby, but the way I read Cersei's line here, knowing how she truly is, boils my blood for some reason
February 22, 2025 at 3:14 PM
What if I told you all that Sansa has been one of my favorite characters from the beginning? Would you believe me?
February 22, 2025 at 3:11 PM
This isn't the last time someone in this book will wake up and have a clear mind with a renewed perspective
February 22, 2025 at 3:01 PM
Grief will do that to a person. Especially a mother with her child
February 22, 2025 at 2:56 PM
WE'RE BACK with Catelyn III, showing how difficult motherhood is. It's a 24/7 job and thankless, some of the time. But a good mother isn't heartless, and Cat shows it
February 22, 2025 at 2:52 PM
This bond I'm sure will have consequences. But for now, good on them
February 16, 2025 at 7:58 PM
😳 Pfff. Yeah! Who wants to read a dumb book with DRAGONS!? That's silly and immature...
February 16, 2025 at 7:54 PM
Tyrion II features the first ever time people thought, "This guy loves the sound of his own voice." Real
February 16, 2025 at 7:50 PM
Homies, is it gay to run away with your long-time best friend with swords to get wenches together? Or is it just dudes being bros? Ah, Ned II, never change
February 16, 2025 at 7:41 PM
Jorah is different compared to his show that will not be named counterpart. Some like him, others really don't, and I think that's fair. But I always loved him in Dany II. It's an innocent enough and sweet gesture that means everything to Dany in the most difficult day of her life (so far)
