Federal officer blasts chemical spray into vocal but nonviolent Portland protester, video shows

The interaction illustrates how federal law enforcement officers do use aggressive tactics against protesters who yell and needle officers but don’t appear to present clear physical threats.

@merkley.senate.gov @wyden.senate.gov y’all need to boot this guy from leadership if you want any shot of winning future elections and building back the Democratic base. He’s not made for this moment and he’s operating from the wrong playbook. Embarrassing.
Asked what he would do to stop the deployment of federal troops to Portland, Chuck Schumer replies: "I'd hope some of them [Republicans] would join us in legislation to prevent it from happening."

"I know they're loyal to Trump and does whatever he wants but this is so far stepping over the line"

@repdexteror.bsky.social this is not the type of leadership democrats need right now. If there’s an effort to kick him out of the position of leadership in the house, you’ll have constituent support. He and Schumer practice a politics that no longer exists and gives us nothing.
The Trump administration’s threat to deploy troops in Portland is unlawful.

Here’s a thought.

Focus on protecting the healthcare of the American people.

Can confirm the only war here in Portland is the one with the squirrels in my neighborhood who keep gnawing on my patio joists.
This ought to be a huge story everywhere. It is imperative that we not normalize sending troops into blue cities on false pretenses. The consequences could be tragic. Journalists must rebut the lies and quote the outraged at the top of their articles and segments. www.cnn.com/2025/09/27/p...

Amazing 🫠
History will remember April 9, 2025 as America’s actual liberation day—the day that President Trump backed down from his ridiculous tariff fiasco.

This continues to not be it, holding on to some make believe idea that this kind of public shaming will change someone’s mind. They respond to bullying and he literally just admitted they’re shameless! I really can’t understand this line of thinking in 2025.
Jeffries: We’re dealing with a group of people where, for far too many of them, facts don’t matter. Hypocrisy is not a constraint on their behavior. And many of them have actually come to the conclusion that their shamelessness is a superpower.

We have to hold them accountable…

Begging some of the most powerful people on the planet to act like it. No fight in them, no passion.
CNN: Is democratic leadership is doing enough?

SENATOR JACKY ROSEN: I think that we have to realize that we're in the minority. They have the White House, they have the House, and they have the Senate. So the tools that are available to us here as legislators...they are limited.

I think the utility of Twitter was in journalists discussing news in real time and comedians delivering free content, both of which it excelled at. Bluesky users so far leaning into the “I’m smarter than the dummies in the news” which is kind of tired for this kind of platform imo

This platform is pushing entirely too much content of people applauding themselves for being on this platform

If democratic actors can’t fathom how the working class felt abandoned by the mainly upper-middle class messaging of the democratic campaign than that party is gonna keep losing
A failed president who incited a coup attempt and then was found liable of sexual assault and then was convicted of felonies won the popular vote and electoral college. I still haven’t seen a satisfactory explanation. Probably never will.
