An account where I share my love of nature and animals through incredibly amateur photography. What I lack in photo quality I make up for in whimsy 🩷
I might swear or make an adult joke sometimes so minors begone

Went on a walk yesterday and saw 16 bald eagles in the span of 2 hours. It’s amazing to think that they were so close to extinction at one point because now they’re like pigeons 🪶

I think the sky must have heard me and taken this post as a challenge, because not 12 hours after I said “the lights were less intense this year” I was proven wrong

Northern lights this year vs. last year

Even if they were less intense this year I feel very lucky to have seen them 2 years in a row.

It’s snowing but at what cost

That’s about -4 feeling like -11 to my celsius pals

Look at her, acting all tired as if she raked the leaves herself and didn’t just plop down on the nice pile I made

The photo isn’t great but it showcases one of my favorite facts about ducks: they can be trans! Specifically mtf.

As they get older, the hens go through duck menopause and develop the plumage and behavior of drakes (male ducks)

It happened to one of my aunt’s ducks, Frida the duck became Freddy.

There was frost on the ground this morning! Winter is almost here
October 8, 2025 at 2:27 PM
I like to think this photo is more representative of that. Tiny and unnaturally orange

It’s been so wet lately that the mushrooms are flourishing, here are some shaggy ink caps 🍄🍄‍🟫

Catching up with my girls over some invertebrates buried in the sand 🪶

The place I was staying at had a Karelian bear dog as a livestock/hostel guest guardian and I’ve never felt more safe.

It was like having a bodyguard who wanted to be paid in butt scratches and tummy rubs.

I saw this sign a few days ago and I was reminded how deeply unserious and strange the place I live is.

I love it so much.

I regret to inform everyone that my dog is the prettiest dog in the world

Eva’s catching some rays

Alas, I did not see any moose yesterday despite searching for almost 7 hours. The only trace of them I found was some old tracks. It’s amazing how elusive they are for being so massive.

What a cruel world we live in that made bears so fluffy and pettable but also gave them big teeth and claws.

I’ve contemplated this a lot over the past few days as the bears visit almost daily in preparation for hibernation.

Went to the beach yesterday to see some of the migrating birds and while I was too late to catch the pelicans, there were approximately one billion seagulls (and this one crow that was hanging out with them) 🪶
September 13, 2025 at 4:56 PM
The news (because you betcha this was in the paper) has dubbed this squirrel “Albie” but an old man I chatted with while I was out looking called him “Winter” which I like better
September 11, 2025 at 7:34 PM
I saw this beautiful blue heron yesterday and while I missed him diving for a fish, I did get the aftermath of him looking fluffy and embarrassed 🪶
September 11, 2025 at 2:56 PM
First photo with my new and improved lens, this fluffy little woodpecker! 🪶

It’s not the most detailed photo but I’m still figuring out the focus, plus the lens is extremely heavy. But excuses aside, I think it’s not bad for something I took almost half a block away.

Oh to be a bumblebee on some wilting lingonberry(?) flowers

Don’t quote me on that flower ID, there are like a dozen berries that have nearly identical ones
September 7, 2025 at 2:22 PM
If that branch wasn’t there this would’ve been an amazing photo
August 27, 2025 at 2:20 PM
Until the better lens I mentioned yesterday gets here you’re stuck with photos like this 🪶

Please use this as a reaction image, let’s make Francine (the deer) famous

Also she’s not sick, that’s just her summer coat and it’s much thinner than her normal fur
