Poor conditions this morning, but after recent rains the Whooper numbers are increasing with over 100 on this bog section now.
Pumping continues, & we've submitted important evidence to ACP this week of activities taking place on these bogs unsettling Whoopers during a live case.

He also continues to support the desecration of habitats by a semi-state on bogs relating to ground nesting red listed species of conservation. A fact that was brought to his attention. His nature Minister walked these bogs and is now also looking the other way. Disgraceful reality.

Shame that the thousands of acres of bogs that were to be rehabilitated are not being facilitated under the JT and sustaining jobs and creating new. No JT, just biodiversity loss.

Another day and another beautiful sight from the front door of the house, with more Whoopers flying into Derryadd bog.
October 27, 2025 at 4:09 PM
Lovely walking out the front door of the house this morning to be greeted by Whoopers flying overhead towards the bog.

Whoopers return to the bogs for 2025. As usual, BNM continues to remove their habitats through unauthorised methods with the blind eye from local authority & Gov.
October 11, 2025 at 2:24 PM
Farmlands downstream of Derryadd bog are flooded again with BNM’s continued pumping of water off these bogs.
October 5, 2025 at 4:49 PM
Just lodged our response to BNM’s further information request as part of their substitute consent being sought for the three main bogs here.

This is going to be very interesting.
September 29, 2025 at 11:50 AM
Substitute Consent applications are to be full and complete upon applying. Seeking further information to give the likes of BNM an opportunity to drip feed information to get it across the line is not on. We aren't fools and our response will highlight the legalities around this.
September 21, 2025 at 6:59 PM
So BNM are being allowed to provide further Information in relation to the substitute consent for decades of unauthorised peat extraction on bogs here.

Why? Their information in their application not adding up to our physical evidence?

Will keep you all informed.

You're not alone when it comes to the being geeky about it Eoghan! 😂

At a cost of what? Biodiversity?
Activities by a semi-state on bogs to facilitate proposed wind farm planning has resulted in one of the greatest biodiversity disasters with 0 accountability.Pumping water off bogs, ground nesting red listed species of conservation eradicated.....
August 10, 2025 at 12:12 PM
BNM claims that a wind farm will have minimal impact on wildlife, yet they can't even protect wildlife on the bogs as they currently stand.

⚠️ Warning! Sensitive images.
August 8, 2025 at 6:56 PM
Substitute consent decision pushed out until December 9th.

Why? BNM extracted peat without planning permission or they didn't?
August 5, 2025 at 7:14 AM
Completed!
Submission lodged and now in the hands of ABP. July 2nd is the last day for submissions.
Thanks to everyone who has supported & here's hoping that the correct approach is taken for the betterment of everyone & everything on these boglands.

Ground nesting red listed species of conservation. Ireland's National Bird. Nesting sites deemed as appropriate to be eradicated by BNM. The hidden reality being left to communities to prevent yet again.
May 16, 2025 at 8:52 PM
On the eve of BNM reapplying for their proposed wind farm, never forget that all you see in this video has been actively removed from these crucial bogs through outdated pumping activities and methods which held no planning permission in an act to clear the bogs for a wind farm.
May 13, 2025 at 9:52 AM
Cuckoo calling across the bog this morning.
May 9, 2025 at 5:36 AM
Ireland's national bird,a red listed species, that nests & rears it's young on these bogs is again facing obliteration as BNM prepares to lodge planning for its WF next week.Happy to declare what they are doing to protect the Lapwing in Boora, but don't hold the same regard for Longfords Lapwings.
May 8, 2025 at 9:37 PM
No substitute consent, yet BNM seems to be very sure they will obtain it somehow by applying for a wind farm.

Very interesting.

Even with sun rising over the Derryadd bog this morning, a somber sight is to behold on this Lapwing nesting site, exposing nests to predators due to needless, outdated pumping practices reducing water levels across the bog throughout.

Good job there's no #biodiversity crisis! #biodiversityloss
May 7, 2025 at 5:38 AM
With BNM having their application seeking "forgiveness" for decades of environmental destruction on bogs here sitting with Pleanála, today they continue with business as usual pumping water out of habitat rich areas associated with Lapwings.
Words fail
