I've literally done this. There was a plastic container of cupcakes that I saw a crow trying to get in. I took the time to open it then waved at the crow as I left.

This is also good advice to avoid hand cramps and arthritis in the long term. Drawing can happen from the shoulder, elbow, wrist, and fingers. If you only draw from the wrist and fingers you will put a lot more strain on your body in the long term.
