I once heard someone say that BCRs should be compared to the BCRs of other projects to determine which ones to do first, and not used on their own.

Interesting, I did not know that

It will probably end up being like the TOD at Wellard station.

For comparison, the 5 station, 21 km Ellenbrook line cost $1.65 billion. And the Yanchep extension is a greenfields project. I have no idea how they managed to fuck up the Yanchep extension so badly.

The Yanchep extension was originally budgeted for $520 million. It ended up costing $1.27 billion. I’m fairly sure this is the largest budget blowout for transport infrastructure in Western Australia’s history. And yes, the extension is massively overbuilt.

To be fair, the icon shows a pregnant woman and an elderly person, so the text is different to the icon

How did they manage such a large decrease?

This feels like a solution that’s worse than the problem.

And if you are only catching the bus at these two stations, you have to tag on twice. Once at the station entrance, and once on the bus.
November 25, 2025 at 2:11 PM
In Perth, when transferring from train to bus, you have to tag off at the station exit and tag on the bus, except at 2 stations: Warwick and Whitfords, where the buses enter the station’s paid zone. There, you don’t tag off before tagging on the bus.

Frustratingly, due to the railcar shortage, Ellenbrook line trains are terminating at Bayswater station.

This is a very funny quote though. Based on the pictures I've seen, the passengers definitely would have been aware.

ABC News says this is a case of driver error! The train ran over the points when they were changing

Driver error blamed after train derailed during peak hour
A number of Perth trains are cancelled, causing delays for passengers at peak travel time on Monday, after a train comes off the tracks at Bayswater Station.

That's definitely the way it should be done, and probably why the government is so reluctant to commit to any more extensions. All the low hanging fruit have been done.

Not helped by some bus drivers inputting the wrong destination on the displays. There are buses here that say they are going to Armadale!

Very funny that the premier is bragging about November 30th being ahead of schedule
November 16, 2025 at 3:42 AM
After Midland station opens, it will be the first time in over a decade and a half that no rail projects were under construction or about to begin construction in Perth. Feels a bit sad that nothing's in the pipeline...
