i say all of this because i've met so many people who get offended over someone being critical of america because they view it as someone being critical of them specifically

so many people are entirely indoctrinated into believing nationalism is patriotism, it's fucking wild

if someone says "i hate america" i don't think "wow, they hate americans" i think "wow, they hate american foreign policy, capitalism, white supremacy, etc"
