While I use studs, rather than chains, you can recover from a back wheel slide, but not from a front wheel slide, so when I only have one studded tire, it goes on the front.

Poor phrasing in the opening of the article implies the victim was terribly clumsy: “a cyclist was killed after falling beneath the wheels of a dump truck”.

Later we learn the dump truck was turned right, across the bike lane. Misguided attempt to avoid implying blame has the opposite effect.

I think it is 40. Unfold the surfaces of the cuboid and it becomes a problem in 2 dimensions. The shortest route becomes a hypotenuse of a triangle length 32 x height 24 (it’s a 3,4,5 triangle times 8).
