Spent a long time enjoying the sunrise lit hills and reflections in the still lake listening to a herd of elk bellow at each other just down the trail. One of my favorite spots coming down from Sourdough gap

Crystal Lake via Sourdough Gap and Sheep Lake
• Parking fee information: There is a fee to park at this trailhead. A Northwest Forest Pass can also be used. For more information, please visit https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/okawen/passes-permits/?cid=fsbdev3_053606 • Seasonal road closure: Roads within and around Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest are subject to seasonal closure. For more information, please visit https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/okawen/alerts-notices/?cid=stelprdb5308542 While the majority of this trail is within Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, the trail crosses into Mount Rainier National Forest just before Crystal Lake. Those who are planning to camp overnight at Crystal Lake will be required to obtain a wilderness permit from Mount Rainier National Park. Dogs are allowed on the trail until you reach Sourdough Gap, where you will enter the Rainier portion of the trail. Dogs are not allowed there, so if you want to reach Upper Crystal Lake, you'll have to leave the pups at home. Reservations are recommended, but not required. Two-thirds of summer permits (June - September) are available for advance registration, while the remaining are issued on a first-come first-serve basis, and can be reserved one day before your trip. More information on wilderness and climbing permits can be found here: https://www.nps.gov/mora/planyourvisit/wilderness-permit.htm

The best view from the Fremont Lookout are just beyond/on the backside of the lookout. If you move beyond the lookout you get amazing views of Grand Park, and the Cascades.

Whether you're doing the Burroughs Mountain trail or the Mount Fremont Lookout trail do yourself a favor and make it a loop and use the Sunrise Rim trail. The views of the Emmons Glacier and the Emmons Valley are amazing.

There is nothing quite like Mount Rainier at sunrise. This was my first trip to the Mount Fremont Lookout and I can see why it's such a popular spot. The views were just out of this world.

It was so gorgeous and SO WINDY at Fremont Lookout this morning. The smoky skies created incredible color and Mount Rainier and the surrounding ranges were gorgeous in the morning light.

The views all around Lake Ingalls are incredible. I am partial to the north end of the lake. It's an extra walk but offers much more scenic views of the valley and Mont Stuart.

This was my favorite view from the hike. The reflection in the still lake took a gorgeous scene up four or five levels. :chef's kiss:

I really enjoyed Rainbow Lake. One of the better places I've found spend a sunrise.

My favorite part of Island lake was...the islands. The incredible image of trees and bushes growing out of, and on, rocks in the middle of a gorgeous alpine lake was better than I could have hoped for.

This view is from an incredible spot on the north end of Lake Ingalls. I spent a long time enjoying the pools and streams that were coming from Lake Ingalls and heading down into the Ingalls valley.

The sunset from Mount Adams was out of this world. The silhouette of Mount St Helens and features of Mount Adams in the deepening colors of sunset were incredible.

Was struck by the look of the rock formations, colors of the sunrise, and the sound of the ocean so I took a moment to take a quick video so I could revisit this moment of time in the future.

Rainbow Lake is really, REALLY pretty. I would love to visit again at midday to be able to see all of the different color rocks underneath the surface show out.

I had quite a bear scare. Right before I reached the shoreline I heard a very large animal exhale and scratch a tree a few feet behind me. By the time I turned around the black bear had taken off and I could see it disappearing into the trees. So! Island lake was gorgeous at sunrise.

On the way back to the trailhead the water in Mason Lake was so clear and calm that it was picking up the incredible golden hour greens of the pine trees on the shore. One of my favorite views of the hike.

I am probably biased because I prefer to hike first thing, but my favorite part of the day is sunrise. The colors, peacefulness, and lack of bugs make for a really incredible time to just be and enjoy being outside.

Wonders await no matter which way you look from Unicorn Peak. The view to the south includes 3 volcanoes and 2 gorgeous mountain ranges. So worth the effort to make it to the top.

I think my favorite view from the High Rock Lookout hike was this view from the last switchback before High Rock Lookout. The evening light and the way the trees framed the mountain arrested me.

The view along the northern rim of the Stuart/Ingalls valley were simply astonishing. The route is a tad steep and exposed but well worth the effort and light scrambling.
