Like many articles that complain, this one is not helpful as it offers no suggestions. Well, maybe the suggestion is that song writers should write protest songs. Did those songs the writer reminisces about do any good? We simply don't know what to do. And our congresspeople are asleep at the wheel.

TY for gifting. This article doesn’t mention the housing first model. The program described conditions housing on treatment, which can be coercive. Why not housing first? And, using person-first language makes people more tolerant than saying “mentally ill.” The NYTimes should know better!

Probably depends on your health and life expectancy, whether you have kids or other heirs, and what your (newly hired) tax attorney or accountant advises. I wonder how much time the winner has to decide whether to take the winnings all at once or over 30 years.
