In conversations about generative AI I always just go back to the technology literally not doing the thing the general public thinks it does. It's not smart, it can't reason, it's a really expensive markov chain.

My impression of the rapid Python adoption in the ‘10s was that it was particularly usable in many domains rather than being specifically good at one thing. It had web, data, ml, etc all at once.
