When you ask me what I am doing today,
and I say "nothing,"
it does not mean I am free.
It means I am doing nothing.

Fourth yesterday in the Open Triples lawn bowls competition held at our own club yesterday. Huge prize money of £10 each. Really great day. Five matches of 6 ends each, 30 ends total. 3 wins, one draw, one defeat.

After yesterday's threatened thunder we actually had some today; the low, distant rumbling of English summer thunder.

Won second place with two teammates in Brampton Bowling Club's Mixed Triples competition. Actually won some money! Founded in 1761 it is Britain's second oldest bowling club.

God of glory,
by the raising of your Son
you have broken the chains of death and hell:
fill your Church with faith and hope;
for a new day has dawned
and the way to life stands open
in our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

Happy Easter!

Fibre is coming to our village. 1Gb. I know many people have had this for years but this is real progress in rural Northumberland.

Whereas here in a café in Tynemouth I could make a fortune if I had a card reader and a fan club sign up sales pitch. Adoration by every punter coming through that door.

Away at the coast for few days. Cold but enjoyable.

Happy birthday to me!
Celebrations started yesterday with a surprise visit from my very old friends (we were best man for each other decades ago) who turned up as arranged (apparently) despite the snow.

Our blind Jack Russell called Molly down between me and the armchair trying to keep warm.

Change in the weather is on the way. Cloud building from the south this morning down by the river. We are expecting snow tomorrow.

I monitor my walking through an app and I walked 1150 miles in 2024. It is 50 fewer than the previous year but I’m still pleased with my achievement. I’ll also be getting a medal through the post. I’m just about to finish walking around Iceland too with street view providing sights to see.

It is tipping down with rain here. Our Jack absolutely refuses to go out in it. I, on the other hand, have walked down to the surgery to collect Mrs Ss prescription and have returned soaked. Obvious who's wiser here. Not sure about normal.

Wishing all my friends here a Happy and Peaceful Christmas.
This is one of my stock photos taken just across the River North Tyne from where I live. It’s 10C today, very mild for the time of year so absolutely no snow.

Little trip over to Carlisle in Cumbria which took in an hour looking around the Cathedral.

A cold but enjoyable day in the Scottish Borders. The view towards Newcastleton with Roan Fell (568m/1860ft) in the distance.

In the Freeman Hospital Newcastle-upon-Tyne for a test this morning. Lots of others were there where I was going too, but for the most part the hospital looked like this.
