I'm just a normal guy that likes building mostly 1/35 scale armour models.
It's a bank holiday weekend here, so I got a bit of time at the bench. I finally got around to detail painting on the Type 60 APC. I just feel really odd about painting the exhaust silver, but it's there on pretty much every reference photo.

Just like that Hillary Clinton robot in Disney World with the Donald Trump skin on it.

I completed the main part of the camouflage scheme on the Type 60 build. I painted over the brown patches with a lighter brown, Tamiya's JGSDF brown. I have to fix some over-spray, and then crack on with detail painting.

I had a sudden burst of motivation yesterday and started painting my Type 60 build. The base green was painted with Tamiya flat green mottled over the brown primer, then I sprayed over this with Tamiya JGSDF dark green.

I started to spray the brown camo, using Tamiya NATO brown.
More Tomorrow

Currently working on a couple of projects. I'm repainting an AMX-13/90 and painting up the Finemolds 1/35 Type 60 APC and 3d printed Brandt 120mm mortar. I'm also working on a Takom 1/35 G13 tank destroyer.

I have been working on this over the Christmas break. It's the Finemolds 1/35 Japanese Ground Self Defence Force Type 60 APC. The kit went together fairly well. I have modified them to be folded down, like on the actual vehicle.

I plan on start painting it tomorrow.

If you see this, post a vehicle.

I went to the Curragh museum today. I haven't been there in a while, even though it's like a fifteen minutes drive away. Plenty of interesting exhibits there.

Took these photos while defrosting the car before heading into work this morning.

A bit of progress on the G13 build. I removed the moulded on antenna storage tubes and mounting point for a clamp. I started to add on some of the Swiss items, like the big storage box and the infantry telephone box. I also closed up the engine deck.

Went to the local model shop for the first time in a few months and walked out something that I had my eye on for a while.

Currently work on the Takom 1/35 G13, which is a Swiss post war version of the Jadgpanzer 38(t) Hetzer. While the kit has nice details on it and builds well, it has a few errors on it. I had to reposition the rear towing eyes, which were too high out of the box. #scalemodelsaturday

Some photos of my completed M48A5 build. It's the early version with the M1E1 cupola, as opposed to the more common Urdan cupola. I painted it as a California National Guard tank from the mid to late 1970's.

More photos of my 1/48 M26 Pershing build. I built it as a part of the Plastic Posse Podcast's 100 Posse group build. I did it as a USMC tank in the Korean War.

My most recent two builds on the competition table at SMC, back in October.

The M48A5 is the Takom 1/35 kit, and the M26 is the Tamiya 1/48 kit.

I completed my Evangelion inspired 1/35 Type 74 build, and here are some photos of it. It's actually my first completion of the year. It's the old Tamiya kit with the tracks replaced with ModelKasten ones and the main gun replaced with a PanzerArt RH-M 120 120mm gun barrel.

The barrels arrived on Saturday, from Sylly's Mini Models. I got around to adding one of them on the Type 87, where it fitted like a glove. I also got around to priming the model with Mr.Surfacer Mahogany, which I think is a good base colour.

Pretty much done with this Type 87 build until some ordered parts arrive.

So I ended up getting to my bench this evening and done some welds on the AMX-13. It's a mix of putty and stretched sprue. I'm happy with it.
November 14, 2023 at 10:28 PM
Right, it's time to make my first post here.

This is what is currently on my bench, a Trumpeter JGSDF Type 87 RCV and a Takom AMX-13/90.

On the Type 87, I replaced all the plastic grab handles with wire and added some details lacking in the kit.

The AMX-13 has some added texture and weld beads.
