An oil sketch recently painted based on a local scene.
Note to wildlife photographers: No attempt made to accurately represent the local deer :)
And a Kestrel flying above, which I often see here.
For me its a pleasant deer dream - me watching them watching me :)

I see my local GP practice has a very eco-friendly security camera system in operation :)
So many blackbirds singing there.
Though I think the bench outside the entrance with a plaque dedicated to someone deceased doesn't inspire hope :(

The setting for part of the new filming of Thomas Hardy's Trumpet Major
June 10, 2025 at 11:20 AM
Looking from my bedroom window I see the crew filming a new version of Thomas Hardy's Trumpet Major.
So many retakes getting it just so :)
Speaking to them earlier, such a friendly crew.
The novel was based on this village and surrounding area.

He did an earlier one of them if you are interested to see :)

He has done a portrait of my brother too.
He was a good friend to my brother.

Already longing for spring.

My Border Collie knew just how to make lambs feel at ease.
He did that too with youngsters as he joined me when I worked with troubled children & their families.

Freud often had his dog in the room of therapy sessions.
I've never seen him credit them for any success.

The Corn Buntings I see here in Dorset UK
aren't so colourful, but I do enjoy them on the hedgerows above the sea ridge. This one is from the summer past

One can’t help but feel concern for this unknown lady in a portrait by Lucas de Heere. The time glass almost through, & the ominous image of the skull set uncomfortably near her.
Hoping the setting was alluding to the finitude of life in general (and nothing too personal or foreboding for her :)

I have tried unsuccessfully to find a contemporary view of Stonehenge from the very same angle as this watercolour by Lucas de Heere (Flemish portrait painter & poet) painted when he was in England 1570s fleeing from the Dutch Revolt against Philip II of Spain (whose portrait he had painted BTW).

While I am down memory lane, so very long ago :)
This is the maternity hospital ward where I was born a couple of years after that pic was taken.
Notice the mask, they took airborne infectious diseases seriously in those days BTW

Although only 3 yrs old I remember my 2 wk isolation (photo): an aunt waving through a window. A plastic steam train and carriage on the bedside locker, the fact that all my toys including teddy bear had to be burnt as I left.
I recall children with leg calipers struggling to walk, disabled by polio

That's interesting!
Being a non-scientist I had to look up aqua regia :)

Here's Cecil with his mum. He jumped his nest in my garden rather early, but his mum popped by regularly
