Let me throw out this question...why are are trying to extend life expectancy? The dichotomy is that we want to live as long as possible and if you are religious, you want to meet your maker, so which is it. As we are living longer, the strain on society is greater, especially our families.

To bring some calm to the hectic nature of our lives, I listened to Obama's elegy for John McCain. Some should take a moment to look at both these men at the way how we should treat all people fairly regardless of your political leaning. It seems the days of bein civil are gone. We need to learn.

My parents (in their late 70s) have told me and my family to stop what we are doing and head back to Australia. It's a sad state of affairs when the boomer generation from another country are telling you to "get the fuck out!"

Yes, this is what a normal person would say, but as others have pointed out, this is an example of a politician who is being affected but her owns party's politics. Her constituents are upset and she is mitigating the damage to her political future. So, I'll take it, but I won't believe it.

Even if you don't agree or like Obama, he was the example of a Statesman on the national stage. Though he disagreed with John McCain, he respected him. We need more of this in our country.

Even though I did not agree with Charlie Kirk and his ideology, his death is abhorrent and not aligned to the values of this country. It is beyond a shame that this is what we have come to. There is nothing I can say to comfort his family, thoughts and prayers will not bring him back.

Regardless of your political learning, why is it we can't have statesmen like this. In this day and age with all the tragedy that has occurred, this is a steadfast acclamation of respect for each other.

As much as I detest social media, at least our reps in Congress could engage with us. @daveminca.bsky.social @congressmin.bsky.social @schiff.senate.gov They will post stuff, but never follow up.

Why is it that social media is the new platform to announce official government information. Remember, it is still the platform of 12 year olds, internet influences and those garnishing attention. Our government should disperse all information through official channels, to no confuse the 12 yos.
