Here's a few shots of an Osage sinewbacked recurve on the tillering apparatus. First photo with the bottle is to give some sense of scale of the amount of the initial reflex in the limbs. #Osage #tillering #bowyer

Here' a bow I made a few years back, it's a reflex/deflex recurve made from osage orange (bois darc) and the source for the paint pigment is charcoal, ochre and limonite from the hunting camp. Bison hair tassle, brain tanned whitetail grip and mink fur silencers. 70# @24".

I've certainly broken my share as well and you're right sometimes make great atlatls. Tim Baker has some great stuff and that's a cool endeavor. I'm taking a break on bowyering/ knapping with hunting season still on. Here's a replica Comanche bow that I made for the Tarrant County Historical Society

I live in bois darc heaven so that's generally what I use lol. My hunting area is just a few short miles from the "Bois Darc creek" originally named by French traders in the 1600's. Here's a shot of some of the wood pile in the past, much the same now.

A few primitive style bows, selfbows, sinewbacks and recurves. Mostly all from bois darc (osage orange).
