So far, the Tech Right is winning the GOP factional fight over immigration policy, securing a policy of wage suppression through use of contingent foreign workers. It's a testament to our new future of unelected oligarchs, writes @ryanlcooper.com:

I'm completely baffled at law enforcement's decision to let him be photographed like this. It looks like the trailer of a film where a wrongly convicted ex-CIA badass breaks out of jail to enact vengeance on his corrupt former colleagues. (I know I'm spreading it too but I'm a smol bean account.)

Two good articles on the small, close knit Hindu spinoff sect --don't call it a cult!--headed by guru Chris Butler, in which Tulsi Gabbard is still deeply enmeshed. newyorker.com/magazine/201... (The New Yorker) and nymag.com/intelligence... (New York).

Yeah, I came to agree that Trump's convention speech was not effective--insufficiently rousing.

On the other hand, he won.
Nothing is more compelling as an argument that Trump’s acceptance speech was Actually Good than, “Suck it up, East Coasters!”

ICE really won’t be doing much differently than it did under not only the first Trump administration, but Obama as well.
