A great example of politics as entertainment, the desperation for clicks and the ever revolving news cycle. Like football every weekend a different manager is being hounded out, the media demanding a new story. If it wasn't Starmer it would be somebody else fed to the wolves of our appalling media.

He was only dethroned because he was found out. The palace would have continued to protect otherwise.

All those things apply to Farage to a far greater extent but ordinary voters seem to like his type of corruption it seems.
February 7, 2026 at 4:03 PM
Yes eventually they noticed.

If only they knew that 100 years later people would be looking at them eating their lunch.

His racism is now totally normalised. He posts a video depicting the Obama's as monkeys and there is literally no mention of it on the BBC news website.

The foreign secretary staying at an ex KGB officers house without security was apparently not a scandal though. That should have ended Johnson's career but in Brexit Britain it was just a footnote.

Not sure using the word appeasement is very helpful although understandable. The UK is in a weak position so I don't think any of the alternative approaches would be risk free. To compare him to Chamberlain at this point is grossly unfair.

I think you have jumped the gun with this one.

Same as with immigration. The racists won't stop being racist just because the figures drop to 0.
January 13, 2026 at 4:16 PM
Absolutely. We have never recovered from Thatcher, she might as well still be PM.
January 8, 2026 at 11:14 AM
Yes because of course Farage gives a toss about the people of Venezuela.

and in The UK

Very interesting listen. Why though do so many intelligent people insist on conflating England with the UK?
December 27, 2025 at 2:31 PM
Unlikely to make much difference with such a corrupt media now including the BBC. Imagine the backlash if Labour actually started acting like a progressive government. We have had a right wing coup in this and most people haven't even noticed.

Badenoch's comments were truly appalling and following on from Trumps tweet earlier it's been a gruesome week. I really fear where all this is heading.
December 19, 2025 at 8:12 PM
Labour's poor performance and low popularity is a disaster for the UK. Like it or not they are the only party who will stop a Farage government.
December 17, 2025 at 8:35 AM
Exactly. I remember being at a very white school in the 70's . Kids would make racist 'jokes' but I never recall anyone making a joke about the holocaust.

Embarrassing from the team but also from the ludicrous hype from the media. England's record in Australia is truly appalling but don't worry this time it was going to be different.

Don't really get Rory Stewart. He just seems like every other Tory but without the overt racism. His comments recently about Andrew Mountbatten were pretty objectionable.
December 3, 2025 at 10:41 AM
I agree it shouldn't have been but I am suggesting that any government to the left of the Tories will be destroyed by the media.

Amongst all the media shit of the last few years that interview with LK has got to be one of the most depressing. Labour have reversed an appalling Tory policy but LK is only interested in getting RR sacked and the left cry that it was done too late. This country really is in deep trouble.

The state of British politics.
