MIGOP co-chair Bernadette Smith has resigned from her post.

Current chair and state Sen. Jim Runestad of White Lake confirmed that Smith resigned.

A message seeking comment from Smith was not immediately returned. It is unclear why she resigned.

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced today that Michigan was selected for a “multi-billion-dollar OpenAI Stargate project, built by Oracle and Related Digital,” that will be located in Saline Township.

(Translation - it’s a massive data center)

State Rep. Matthew Bierlein (R-Vassar) walked out of a Michigan House committee Wednesday after Rep. Dylan Wegela (D-Garden City) criticized the US for "sending our tax dollars to fund a genocide"

Bierlein told Wegela "I'm not going to sit here and listen to your crap anymore."

BREAKING: Gov. Whitmer announces budget deal has been reached with an “agreement to pass the School Aid budget and state budget, including long-term road funding, before the end of the fiscal year.”

After nearly 240 days of being vacant, Gov. Whitmer finally set an election for the 35th Michigan Senate District. The governor says a special primary election will be held on February 3, 2026, and the general election will be held on May 5, 2026.
