I’m amazed that some of these wildflowers are still holding on despite the below freezing temperatures lately. Stay strong, little flowers.

I have a monster. It demands cuddles at the worst times, like when I’m trying to sleep, or when I’m eating. But sometimes my monster wants to cuddle at the perfect moment.

Beautiful fall foliage from a tree I took a photo of the other day but then forgot to post.
Orange leaves on a fruit tree (I think it might be a cherry tree but it never produces any fruit so I forget) with fluffy white clouds in the sky.

I hadn’t realized I’d been so quiet online until someone just checked in on me. I’ve been super busy the last few weeks with some great things I can’t talk about yet. Except one that’s still in progress: We finally finished painting my office and I’m in the process of putting it back together.
My office is finally done being painted (in a nice blue-green color with white trim), books are mostly back on a bookshelf, and everything is slowly getting put back in place. It’ll look even better once the rest of the room is done (not shown because that is still mostly chaos).

I’m honestly surprised that several of the wildflowers are still alive after the temperature last night dipped to 24F, but they likely won’t last much longer.

There were so many lovely pot marigold flowers the other day so I’m highlighting those today.

Some brave wildflowers are still putting the energy into blooming despite the chill.

I suspect the wildflowers won’t last much longer, but a few are still pushing on bravely.
A new black-eyed Susan just bloomed, with yellow petals, and greenery around it. A pot marigold attempting to bloom, with its yellow petals mostly closed still. Maybe it will succeed tomorrow. A yellow-orange pot marigold from yesterday has unfurled most of its petals now. A red California poppy working so hard to bloom despite the cold, its petals still crinkly and it starts opening up.

Snow on the tops of the mountains already, but I’m sure it’ll get to the valley sooner than I’d like (though probably a few weeks out still).

I’m surprised how many of the wildflowers are managing to hang on, but it has been rather rainy and not too cold the past few days.
Purple creeping bellflower with drops of rain on it. A yellow pot marigold is only partially bloomed. Rain dots the petals. A pink poppy with white tips is open but slanted down as though to avoid the rain. A black-eyed Susan with yellow petals still looks rather healthy despite the cold.

I thought the cat was hungry, because he kept coming up to my chair and meowing, so I went to get him food. Oh no, he just wanted to steal my spot. The moment I stood up to get him food, the little snot jumped onto my chair instead.

This is from the transcript of the documentary where it discusses the paintings and how he made his money from his painting supplies, the instruction books, and the painting courses. (The estate sent it to me when I worked on the first Bob Ross book I wrote, Happy Little Accidents.)
BOB: Most of these painting are donated to PBS stations across the country. They auction them off, they make a happy buck with them. So if you' dike to have one, get in touch with your PBS station. BOB: You know NBC or ABC gets a thousand phone calls about a program and they say yawn, ok, we'll note that. PBS gets a half dozen phone calls from you with a pledge especially, they shut down and have a party. JIM: I'll never forget at an auction one time, we were... he was a painting a painting live. And we sold it, and the person that bought it said, "I'm coming in, will you wait for me so I can meet you?" And the woman walked in with her walker, about 11:30 at night, and they had driven for about an hour to get here. And she started crying, and she said, "You know I don't have too many good days anymore. But when I watch your show, it's the best part of that day. And I just want to thank you for that, that's why I had to have your painting." And Bob thanked her and gave her a hug, and he said, "That's why I do this." But at this point, the main source of income for Bob's business came from teaching painting classes and selling instruction books. And then, a happy accident... The Alexander Company called and said they couldn't produce enough paint to keep up with the growing demand - and suggested that Bob start his own line of products. As his products hit the commercial shelves, so did his image, establishing his brand in the commercial art world. Now Bob could focus on growing his business, and that meant training some instructors to go out and teach the method and the message of The Joy of Painting. As the demand for more television episodes, plus more painting classes both steadily increased, Bob began to realize that he wouldn't have enough time to devote to both. In 1987 - he created the first team of Bob Ross Instructors. These students would go out and teach in Bob's place.

Today was a day for pot marigolds, as they seem to be one of the few flowers still thriving in the chillier weather.

The wildflower garden looks like it’s finally dying as the weather turns colder.

This is totally random, but I’m testing out a new labeler that lists how each poster on Bluesky will die. It’s kind of humorous but I was about to turn it off because it’s a bit distracting. Then saw the prediction for you and, well, maybe it is accurate. . .

Some itty bitty insect friends are playing hide and seek in today’s wildflower photos.
A yellow pot marigold with brown center has a light-colored spider friend blending in with the petals. An insect friend (not sure what type as he looks like an ant spider of some sort) crawls on the yellow petals of a black-eyed Susan flower. I love the streaks of orange at the tips of the yellow petals on this pot marigold. A blue cornflower is dewy with rain after a storm today.
