Watching acceptances come from schools he was excited about but are now unavailable because of anti-trans laws is a different kind of heartbreak.
His world should be expanding; instead, it's contracting.

I love my trans son, I love and hold in my heart every trans person in this big beautiful world, to the moon … and back.

My hometown is on the Mississippi. Visiting for the holidays a couple years ago, Lock and Dam No. 11 had 30/40 bald eagles sticking around and devouring fish the river.
I’d visit each morning. Listen to their calls. Watch them hunt and soar.
It’s good to recall beauty in the midst of struggle.
