I think a lot of it depends on the reason for the breakup; it'll be a super specific, personal journey that may have little in common with the "same" journey of somebody else.
That being said, allowing yourself to feel, & allowing yourself to be brave even when you don't want to be can slowly help.

The war continues - managed to pull my northern armies back to recoup their losses after major battles with the Empire and am trying to build strength in the south to fight the Wood Elves, but it's not looking great. The Wood Elves now have a toehold in my territory and the humans are massing.

I was doing *okay* as Skarsnik there, but rumbling wars against the Empire, Bretonnia, and Orion's Wood Elves have broken the little Goblin kingdom. There's only so much one can do with bow and spear armed Goblins. Imagine if the Goblins had little blunderbusses and jezzails! If Skaven can...

I happened to be near the front door once (out of sight of the door but near to it) and a delivery driver sort of, I can only describe it as *stroked* the door. This was during the Winter of Amazon Leaving Packages With Random Neighbours Even Though My Office Is Right By The Front Door.
