20mph proving contentious with some in IoM. Large scale studies clearly show benefits. In a smaller community, getting data to ‘prove it works’ is harder. Epidemiology meets highways!

The Chinese curse of ‘may you live in interesting times’ could be updated to ‘we live in the dumbest possible timeline’…
Trump wanting Greenland because he doesn’t understand the Mercator projection…we live in the dumbest possible timeline.

Renewing my Sea Survival qualification at Seascope in Liverpool. Training alongside crews of superyachts, cruise ship staff, a yacht master instructor and other commercial skippers. Fun but cold after 2 hours.

I love a real Christmas tree. I love the look and the smell. The house always looks empty when it’s time to take the tree down.
But the needles…they are the gift that keeps on giving. Despite vacuuming everywhere today they’ll start to appear next week. Little pointy reminders!

A Christmas time tradition. Pantomime. Loosely based on a fairy tale. The Dame is a bloke, the leading man is a woman, the jokes work on 2 levels leaving awkward teenagers sniggering when they get the ‘adult’ humour. Villa Gaiety. Dick Whittington (lots of Dick jokes). Priceless entertainment.

I’d argue that 48 hours in the Isle of Man is not enough…but I would say that wouldn’t I?!

As one of the current women elected to the House of Keys, I took part in this study. It’s interesting to read the conclusions of the authors.
I am very pleased that our article "Being a Woman Politician on the Isle of Man: How Smallness Explains Political Culture" (2024) Social Politics: International Studies in Gender, State and Society is available for free early-view, courtesy of Oxford University Press: tinyurl.com/37938yvd

A refugee from the cesspit of negativity that X has descended into. I’m happy to chat about any issues, but keep it polite and respectful please. Life is too short to spend it being nasty and rude.
