5. Future of work and society in the age of advanced AI

From the relationship between AI and democracy to economic forecasts, we want to enable high-quality feature pieces that identify what today's AI developments foretell about future possibilities.

4. AI capabilities, safeguards, and evaluations

We're looking for journalism that helps the public understand what AI can and can’t do, scrutinizes the methods used to test and evaluate increasingly powerful models, and unpacks efforts to make these systems safer and more secure.

3. Integration of AI in government and military

We're looking for pitches that investigate how governments and military organizations worldwide are adopting AI, as well as the broader entanglements between AI companies, public institutions, and defense strategies.

2. National and international AI policymaking

From lobbying influences to international agreements, we want to fund reporting that reveals how AI policy is being shaped across borders and who has a seat at the table.

1. Investigations into frontier AI companies

We're seeking journalism that examines what's happening behind closed doors at companies like OpenAI, Anthropic, Google DeepMind, xAI, Meta and others developing increasingly capable systems with limited oversight.

This round, we're focusing on forward-looking stories examining how today's AI developments and policy decisions lay the groundwork for how AI will shape our future.
