New paper alert, Journal of Fluid Mechanics. 3D trajectories of falling snow during the Minnesota winter season. At relatively low wind speed morphological effects are dominant, but signs of emerging particle turbulence interaction mechanisms are evident.

In the study of snow settling, plates and rimed crystals can be modeled as thin disks. Turbulence adds to the complexity, making tumbling and horizontal fluctuations, more likely to occur.
