State Rep. Michele Grim
@michelegrim.bsky.social
State Representative, HD-43. Working hard and getting things done.
Proud to stand with United Steelworkers members striking for a fair contract at Libbey Glass. No one who puts in a hard day’s work should have to fight this hard just to be treated fairly.

Great to see pharmacy students from UT in Columbus today and to talk about important healthcare issues facing Ohio!

Proud to present a commendation to the team at WXUT 88.3 FM honoring 35 years on the air. As a former DJ and host, WXUT helped me find my voice. Here’s to the next generation finding theirs!

Great to see student government leaders from the University of Toledo in Columbus today! Thank you for your advocacy.

I’m proud to be a Rocket and to be fighting for UT and for higher education in the legislature.

I was pleased to present an Ohio House commendation honoring UAW Local 14 for 90 years of fighting for fairness and dignity. Toledo’s proud labor legacy lives on through the men and women who build our community every day.

Families shouldn’t be pushed into poverty because they needed healthcare. I’m fighting to end wage garnishment for medical debt because Ohioans deserve stability while they’re healing - not financial ruin.

Thanks to all who went to bat for Toledo kids by speaking in support of this bipartisan effort to create a Mud Hens license plate benefiting the team’s youth programs. The bill passed committee unanimously today. Next stop: the House floor!

The Ohio House just passed HB 148 to allow Ohioans to donate part of their tax refund to the Ohio Pet Fund. It’s a simple way to strengthen spay/ neuter programs and support our shelters and humane societies. 🐾 Proud to sponsor this bipartisan bill with Rep. Sharon Ray. (RIP Max, 2009–2024)

This is an emergency. This is about families being able to put food on the table and about the stability of our communities. We need immediate action to restore SNAP benefits.

Kids shouldn’t be a business model. Too often, child influencers and performers see their work monetized without ever seeing the earnings. That’s why Rep. Lauren McNally and I introduced two bills to change that: the Child Performer Protection Act and the Kid Influencer Protection Act.

HB 148 is a bipartisan bill that gives Ohioans the choice to donate a portion of their state tax refund to the Ohio Pet Fund, helping expand spay and neuter programs at shelters and humane societies across our state. The bill unanimously passed committee today and is one step closer to becoming law.

Too many Americans are being sued over small debts they often don’t even know about - sometimes for less than $1,000. At last week’s NCSL-Pew Debt Collection and Litigation Convening in Denver, we discussed reforms needed to make our civil justice system fairer.

Today I gave sponsor testimony before the House Insurance Committee on House Bill 289 — the Ohio Health Care Plan Act, my bill with Rep. Tristan Rader to establish universal, single-payer health care for all Ohioans.

Great discussion today with the team at Aurora Project, who offer a comprehensive housing and life skills program that empowers homeless women and their children to achieve self-sufficiency and independence.

Loved visiting our Sanger Branch Library on Friday! Every corner of our Toledo Lucas County Public Library system is full of people learning, connecting, and building community. Our libraries do incredible work and I’ll always be a partner fighting for them in Columbus.

WGTE enriches, empowers, and educates people across northwest Ohio. With extremists in Washington killing the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, it’s more important than ever for citizens to stand up for public media and support our local PBS and NPR affiliates as members and advocates.

Families across Ohio are being crushed by medical debt - not because they made bad choices, but because they had bad luck. That’s why overwhelming majorities of Ohioans support commonsense reforms to make the system fairer.

Last round of cookie deliveries to public school teachers and staff starting the new school year. This morning, I visited 7 Sylvania Schools attended by students from House District 43. Thank you to all our educators and school team members for the tireless work you do!

With the new school year underway, I’m delivering cookies to our public school teachers and staff to say THANK YOU for all you do for our students! Today I visited 15 Toledo Public Schools. 🍪📚

Happy Labor Day, Toledo! “The only effective answer to organized greed is organized labor.”
September 1, 2025 at 1:55 PM
Our public school educators and employees show up for our kids every day - often with too few resources and little recognition. As the new school year begins, I’m delivering cookie trays to teachers and staff at all 28 local public schools in the 43rd House District.

Excited to be out in the district this morning making deliveries for Mobile Meals of Toledo! Mobile Meals relies on volunteers to nourish our neighbors and help them remain independent in their homes. Learn more about volunteering at mobilemeals.org/volunteer/

Health care is a right - not a privilege.

Today I joined Senator Ed Markey, Congressman Ro Khanna, Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal, and state legislators from across the country to support the State-Based Universal Health Care Act.
