Spent the weekend working thru the proposed Canadian lawful access legislation (C-2 Strong Border Act) and it is a morass of all sorts of proposals that need work. Honestly I have read it a few times now and there is still more to analyze.

My law firm only accepts cheques and money orders, I just about stroked out.

Like, my cheque book is pretty much a missing sock. Who knows where that thing is?

I just want you to know that yesterday someone tagged my age as “mid 40s” and I was utterly thrilled. Even with the shock of grey hair that has grown in recently. #winning

I thought it was impossible to make Rob Ford dull. But the new Netflix Rob Ford documentary is a snooze.

Made German Wurstsalat today to try and recreate my youth. Fiedler’s delicatessen in Kitchener to be exact. It wasn’t bad. Tasted like it had seen Munich from a plane window. Need different mustard and no sugar. All in all, proud.

Just leaving this right here for my American cousins as you draw closer to it every hour:

Under Thailand’s criminal code, section 112, it is illegal to defame, insult, or threaten the King, Queen, the Heir-apparent, carrying a penalty of 3 to 15 years of jail time.

Like ‘em or not, the NYT is doing some exceptional writing and reporting these days.

The law has become a tool to harm enemies, but not to bind those who govern. That is a quite different constitutional order from the one that we’ve had for a long time.

Defiance and Threats in Deportation Case Renew Fear of Constitutional Crisis
Legal scholars say that the nation has reached a tipping point and that the right question is not whether there is a crisis, but rather how much damage it will cause.

I miss the days where the biggest political issue in Ontario was people pooping in public at Wasaga Beach.

Freddie Mercury didn't go into the studio and nail the vocals for "The Show Must Go On" in one take while dying of AIDS for you to despair and give up now. Take the time you need, but then get up and get back out there.

The show must go on.

Lived this at Twitter. Not great. Metrics be damned. Careful management or outcomes? Pffff. Demonstrated ROI? Nope. Content of this email? Hardly. Your career hangs on meeting this obscure deadline. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/22/u...

The duplicity of the treatment of Alberta Premier Danielle Smith when it comes to US tariffs vs every other Canadian politician and official now going to the US to make nice. Its outrageous.

Smith did it first. She made the blueprint. Everyone else is following it.

I grew up with no citrus or berries in winter. You sold crates of oranges at Christmas as a fundraiser because they were so special to have at that time of year. GenX, we’ve got this.

Fascinating.
This is ominous: the weaponization of the federal government via the FCC has begun.

Trump FCC Chair #BrendanCarr wielding the power of *our* FCC (on behalf of Trump) against the corporate parent of CBS News should disturb all Americans.

This is a threat to #PressFreedom
