We live in that special time when the language doesn't matter - you can translate it in one second (it's crazy!).
Saying "Spanish is fine" sounds like... all right, I'll accept Spanish if it's necessary. :/
I'm sure he didn't mean it - because he's an amazing person - but it sounds like that.
